This week we want you to throw away your color crutches and walk boldly into the shadows. No more hiding behind hues, it’s time to put your photo chops to the test.
Use the Reddit widget below to submit your best black-and-white photo and vote for your favorite among the other submissions. The 10 highest-ranked photos will appear in a gallery on the Wired.com home page. Though the format is called black-and-white, the name is misleading: It’s really all about the grays — what happens between creation and death. For this assignment, shadow and light are your left and right fists of truth, and your subject is your punching bag.
