A behind the scenes look at the New York City Ballet’s new production of Romeo + Juliet, this week Cool Hunting presents an exclusive video made by ballerina and founder of ballet blog The Winger, Kristin Sloan. Kristin takes us into rehearsals for a first hand look at the pirouettes, jumps and kicks practiced in preparation for the show. We learn how the company reinvents such a well-known ballet, discussing reinterpretations of the music, the set, and challenges with fight scenes. Finally, we sit down with Romeo (Robert Fairchild) and Juliet (Sterling Hyltin) to discuss their first-hand experiences with one of the greatest tragic love stories of all time.
If you’re on the East Coast in early July you can catch the performance at the
Saratoga Performing Arts Center.
